Program Description
This Early Childcare Assistant course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively work with infant, toddler, preschool and school-aged children. Through participation in this course students will gain an understanding of the personal development, social development and health and safety needs associated with children in the early years.\n\nStudents will be prepared to provide support, encouragement and self esteem to children as they develop. In addition, through a practicum placement students will benefit from hands on experience in a childcare facility where they will have the opportunity to apply the theories and concepts of child development that they have learned though out our course.\n\nStudents participating in this program will explore the historical roots of child care, child growth, and development.\n\nThey will gain an understanding of how to create an environment based on children's interests and learning needs that that will contribute significantly to a child's development. Through study and practical application, students will experience the difference that an Early Childhood Assistant can make in the lives of young children and their families.
