Useful Information About Being a Travel Agent

This is not mandatory, but you can also choose to be certified as a travel agent and it looks great on a resume. The Canadian Institute of Travel counsellors (CITC) offers two levels of certification: entry-level and advanced. Check-out the CITC website to learn more about the requirements. Most retail travel agencies in Ontario must be registered under the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO). You have to pass the TICO standards exam, to be certified to sell and provide travel services and advice to the public. Though again not mandatory, it is very important to know a lot about world geography and have some travel experience yourself. This gives you a better understanding and expertise you can share with clients.
